The power of social media in business industries

Social Media swallows the old media

“The media have substituted themselves for the older world. Even if we should wish to recover that older world we can do it only by an intensive study of the ways in which the media have swallowed it.”- Marshall McLuhan

The use of social media

Media is like history. It interprets the past and shows us our own place in the world. Almost every company around the world uses media to carry their PR campaigns, by involving media when communicating their PR campaign can help your organisation to position its brand.

Media is the major industry and is quietly involved in business. Every business involves media; it can be both print media such as newspapers and digital media such as television and social networks.  Social networking is when an individual communicates with people who share your interests using a website or other service on the internet. Social networks

Most organisations tend to use social networks such as Facebook and Twitter to spread information and sell products and services.  Some PR companies practice this technique in order to build a mutual relationship between them and their stakeholders. Interactive PR allows organisations to spread information without relying on journalists…they can now communicate directly with the audience. They can do this by creating blog posts or by creating websites for their organisation.

The Life Of PR Students

“Study without desire spoils the memory, and it retains nothing that it takes in.”- Leonardoda Vinci

Active student

If you are shy, you will never make it in Public Relations. PR students love presentations, they are energetic, vibrant and talkative. Every time when they look for part-time jobs, marketing and accounting people tell them from the start that they do not want to lose their jobs because PR students talk too much. They are good in expressing themselves and they are so passionate about their course.

From high school to tertiary

When I was in high school, I had no idea what PR was all about until I start doing my first year at the University of Johannesburg in 2011.  Now I am doing my third year, now I understand that PR is not all about being a spokesperson of an organization, but it’s all about understanding news, building relationships between organizations and customers.

Studying at UJ has changed the way perceive things in life. Watching TV and listening to the radio is my everyday routine as PR student. This is how my life has changed from high school to tertiary. In high school my friends and I used to hang out together and bunk classes.

“Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some hire public relations officers.”DanielJ. Boorstin. Now that I have been selected as one of top achievers in PR field, I started taking my studies seriously. This is when I realized that when you study hard, the rest will follow. PR is an interesting course, try it and start experiencing the life of PR students. Related http://fameafrica.tv/wp/
